studio no_no is a design consultancy based in Penang, Malaysia. The practice works across learning experience design, placemaking, and cultural projects. With a focus on people /place+play.
Some of studio no_no’s work involves close collaboration with local communities. The studio approaches this as a non-extractive practice: communities are not “case studies,” and stories are not resources to be taken. Projects are built with consent, collaboration, and respect, with care given to how knowledge is held, credited, and returned through shared authorship and accessible public outcomes.

Studio no_no works alongside communities, not as a visitor passing through. Projects are shaped through trust, time, and shared decision-making.

Cultural knowledge and lived experience are treated with care. Documentation is consent-based, collaborative, and never extractive.

The work gives back. It is through shared authorship, accessible outputs, and public experiences that honour the people and places they come from.
